-“What exactly are the Products?”

The Products involve the following:

NUTRITIONAL/FOOD SUPPLEMENTS: As mentioned in the previous paragraph, most of the foods that we eat nowadays are genetically modified making it hard for our bodies to get the required and rightful quantities of nutrients. For example, the hybrid chickens that most of us love so much because they are cheap and economical have their genetic body make-up tempered with. Instead of the chick taking three (3) to six (6) months to mature, it now takes only two (2) to three (3) weeks to do that. This means the chicken is no longer natural and as a consequence does not contain the natural nutrients beneficial for our bodies. Moreover, it contains more chemicals making it highly toxic. This therefore increases the need for food supplementation in order to cater for nutritional deficiencies in our bodies as a result of the food that we normally eat. As an illustration, see what Kim Otteby, a Nutritionist and Regular Columnist in the Sunday Post Newspaper dated 7^th December, 2008 in an article entitled,” On anti-depressants for a Year”, paragraph 11 had to say and I quote her,” It is also really important to pay attention to what you eat so that you avoid nutritional deficiencies (which unfortunately are extremely common). A deficiency of any single nutrient can alter brain function and lead to depression, anxiety and other mental disorders. Infact deficiencies of a number of nutrients are quite common in depressed individuals. The most common being folic acid, vitamin B12 and vitamin B6. However, since there may be other nutrients as well, I recommend that instead of supplementing with very specific nutrients, you rather take a broad-spectrum nutritional supplement. Personally I always prefer using natural plant-based nutritional supplements instead of synthetic formulations. Natural food-based supplements (e.g barley grass, wheat grass, moringa, chlorella, spirulina, etc.) are absorbed and assimilated much better by the body. Here is a full and detailed explanation of the Top Ten Hot Negotiating Tips I think you might be interested in. I learnt these tips from a person named Sue Waddington. And this is what she had to say:

“ Everyone uses negotiation tactics to get what they want, whether they ‘ re haggling over the price of an item in a car-boot sale or discussing potential salary with a future employer. Most of the time, when you enter a negotiating situation you can expect the other party to use certain manoeuvres to tip the scales in their favour. For example, you can expect a potential employer to offer you less money than they are actually willing to pay to give themselves negotiating room. And a buyer will usually act surprised at your stated price, no matter how reasonable it may be, to pressure you into lowering it.

Everyone uses these tactics, but that doesn’t mean that negotiations can’t be fair. Some tactics are acceptable, while others are downright sleazy(immoral). Tactics are part of the process, and you can use them and still maintain your negotiations on an honest level. In other words, the use of tactics doesn’t necessarily mean tricking or manipulating people. Some tactics are simply tools to expedite(speed up) the negotiation process ; others are used to take advantage of the other person. To be successful in sales and in business, you must be able to differentiate between the fair and unfair negotiation tactics so you can use the good ones to your advantage and deflect the questionable ones. Consider the following ten negotiation tactics and how to deflect them.

Tactic Number 1: The Wince

The wince can be explained as any overt negative reaction to someone’s offer. For example, you might act stunned or surprised when your negotiating counterpart names their terms. This tactic tells your counterpart that your know your limits, which ins’t underhand or dishonest. And wincing at the right time can potentially save you thousands of pounds or dollars. Keep in mind that when deals are negotiable your counterpart will start high.

Of course, you won’t always be the wincer. Many times, especially in the sales profession, you’ll be on the receiving end of the wince. In this case, you can counter with the next tactic.

Tactic Number 2: Silence

In the negotiation process, silence can be your strongest tool. If you don’t like what your counterpart has said, or if you’ve made an offer and you’re waiting for a response, just sit back and wait. Most people feel uncomfortable when conversation ceases, and they start talking automatically to fill the void. Almost without fail, your counterpart will start whittling away his or her position when you use this tactic.

So what if you find yourself negotiating with a person who understands the importance of silence as well as you? Rather than wasting time in silence, restate your offer. Don’t make suggestions; just repeat your terms. This manoeuvre forces the other person to respond, and more often than not they respond with a concession.

Tactic Number 3: Good Guy/Bad Guy

This sleazy tactic is often used in movies, where two detectives are interrogating a person who’s just been arrested. One detective seems unreasonable and inflexible, while the other tries to make it look like he or she is on the suspect’s side. If you find yourself in a good guy/ bad guy situation, the best response is to ignore it. Recognise this game for what it is, but don’t play along and don’t allow the good guy to influence your decision.

Tactic Number 4: Limited Authority

This tactic is a variation on the good guy/ bad guy routine, but instead of two people working over you, the one person you’ re dealing with tells you that he or she must approve any deals with an unseen higher authority. Sometimes, this higher authority exists, but other times your counterpart will create this figure to gain an edge in the negotiation process. So just because your counterpart tells you “ its out of my hands” don’t automatically assume the person is being honest. In this type of situation, two options exist: one, ask to deal directly with this so-called higher authority or two, test the limits of your counterpart. You may find that the other person has used this tactic to force you into backing down.

Tactic Number 5: The Red Herring

This technique comes from fox-hunting competitions, where one team drags a dead fish across the fox’s path to distract the other team’s dogs(fox). At the bargaining table, a red herring means one side brings up a minor issue or point to distract the other side from the main issue. Effective and ethical negotiators generally agree that this tactic is the sleaziest of them all.

Tactic Number 6: The Trial Balloon

Trial balloons are questions designed to assess your negotiating counterpart’s position without giving any clues about your plans. For example, you may ask your counterpart, “would you consider trying our services on a temporary basis?” or “Have you considered our other service plans?” Essentially, these type of questions put the ball in your counterpart”s court, and the nice part about them is they aren’t really offers. They allow you to gain information without making a commitment.

When you’ re on the receiving end of a trial balloon question, you may feel compelled to answer it thoroughly. To maintain your edge, resist this temptation and counter with another question. For example, if someone asks, “ Would you consider paying cash? Respond, “ Well, if I did, what would your offer be?”

Tactic Number 7: Low –balling

Low-balling is the opposite of the trial balloon. Instead of tempting you to make the first offer, your counterpart will open the process with a fantastic offer. Then, after you agree, they start hitting you with additional necessities.

For example, say you see an ad for a product priced lower than other stores. But then, after you buy, the sales representative uncovers the hidden costs, such as delivery or installation. In the end you, you probably pay more than you would have at another shop listing a higher price on the product. To avoid falling victim to this tactic, ask your counterpart about additional costs before agreeing to any deal.

Tactic Number 8: The Bait- and- Switch

Similar to low- balling, the bait-and-switch tactic should be avoided. Your counterpart may try to attract your interests with one great offer, but then hook you with another mediocre one. This tactic will almost always burn you, unless you can recognize it. If your counterpart were really able to offer a genuinely good deal, they wouldn’t have to resort to bait-and-switch.

Tactic Number 9: Outrageous Behaviour

Outrageous behaviour can be categorized as any form of socially unacceptable conduct intended to force the other side to make a move, such as throwing a fist of anger or bursting into tears. As most people feel uncomfortable in these situations, they may reduce their negotiating terms just to avoid them.

Tactic Number 10: The Written Word

When terms of a deal are written out, they often seem non-negotiable. For example, when was the last time you negotiated a lease, or a loan, or even a service contract that was typed up in an official looking document?

The best defence against this tactic is simply to question everything, whether it appears in writing or not.”

As you can probably see, these tactics can potentially save you a lot of money just by applying one or more of them to your particular situation. They have saved me a few thousand kwachas and/ or dollars as a result of using them. They have also benefited me financially and continue to benefit me in my businesses as well as my personal endeavours. The reason why I created this blog is because Iam sick and tired of working for other people.  I’ve always hated the idea of working for someone else due to the fact that a JOB(Just Over Broke) will never make me RICH! As Mr. Kennedy Musonda a business columnist in the post-newspapers of Zambia  put it and I quote him” It is difficult to create wealth from a JOB because an employee only serves one client who pays him or her a salary and that is the Employer. But the employer serves several people at the same time. He or she is able to duplicate himself or herself through employees and well established business systems.”

And therefore, this is the reason why I started my own part-time business in order to supplement my income. And  why I created this  weblog because I want to meet, network and give back to other newbie entrepreneurs and fellow employees who are in the same situation just like Iam …….and hopefully my story can help inspire you discover a better alternative just like I did when I started doing business on a part-time basis being my own boss. But before I get into all of this, let me tell you a little bit more about myself.

First things first.

The question you should be asking yourself is not whether I’am going to manage to achieve this target but rather whether you will be one of the 500,000 entrepreneurs. I already have about 60 entrepreneurs working with me to empower themselves and their families and that leaves a balance of 499,940 people remaining to meet this target!!

PERSONAL VISION: My personal vision is to be a conveyor-belt for financial and business empires development for others and myself whose main objective is to empower their families and my family including the disadvantaged people in Zambia in particular and the rest of the world in general. I shall achieve this by positively and continuously contributing to other people’s success through profitable and sustainable investments in a proactive manner.

I happen to be the first born son in my family. I was born on the 13^th of October, 1973 in Livingstone, the Tourist Capital of the Republic of Zambia, Southern Africa. I come from the north-western part of Zambia. I’am luvale by tribe. I’am married to Dyna Mpande a Tumbuka Lady from the eastern part of Zambia. We have three children, two boys namely David Kapalu Junior and Alfred Chinyama Kapalu and one girl namely Helen Kapalu.

I did most of my education in the southern part of Zambia. However, upon completing my senior secondary education, I never had the chance of going to any university. And even if I had that chance, my parents wouldn’t have managed to sponsor me because at that time they happened to be in serious liquidity problems. This therefore prompted me to start looking for a JOB (Just Over Broke) to help me raise some money for my college education.

I worked for different organizations in various capacities. My first job as a school leaver was working as an Office Orderly for an organization known as Narada Enterprises. This job involved cleaning offices, collecting mail from the post-office and making tea for others in the said organization. Then I did untrained teaching in the Ministry of Education for a year till the time I joined the Zambian Constabulary as a Regular Police Officer. I rose through the ranks up to the rank of Inspector. Whilst in the constabulary, I did a number of legal courses that ended up making me to work as a Public Prosecutor in our Zambian Subordinate Courts. I then later on resigned from the Zambian Constabulary to join a certain parastatal organization namely National Airports Corporation Limited as an Aviation Security Assistant, a company I still work for up to now!

I enjoy reading good and empowering books on Wealth Creation and Investing. My favorite Books are Rich Dad, Poor Dad Book Series, Think and Grow Rich, Cracking the Millionaire Code-What Rich People Know that you don’t know About, Why we want you to be rich, Unlimited Power, How to Win Friends and Influence People, Military Strategy, The Power of Positive Thinking, John Maxwell on Leadership, Power of Vision and the Bible.

My favorite authors are : Robert Kiyosaki, Napoleon Hill, Mark Victor Hansen, Robert Allen, Dale Carnegie, Brian Tracy, Dr. Myles Monrue and Edward De Bono. My wish would be to be mentored by investors like Warren Buffer, Donald Trump and not forgetting Robert Kiyosaki himself. I follow the advice of these people keenly when it comes to business matters and life in general.

On the Zambian Local scene, I enjoy reading and following the Newspaper articles written by Chibamba Kanyama, Mubita Nawa and Namucana Musiwa. I also used to enjoy reading Mr. Kennedy Musonda’s articles on wealth creation though he has stopped writing recently. I would be unfair to myself if I left out Mrs. Joy Mwambazi and Revrand Walter Mwambazi as my very own close personal mentors of mine in my businesses. These two, Mother and Son are Great People indeed. They have contributed greatly to my own personal and business success. I would also love to thank my other close business partners I’am currently working with in my businesses too. To you I say Bravo!!

I enjoy networking with others, sharing good ideas, books as well as any other good material on personal development. I’am someone who loves competition very much because it helps me to improve my life skills. I love adventure as well as sight-seeing the wonders of this world. I’am a risk-taker who doesn’t look at the negative side of things but the positive side with great expectations of achieving whatever I embark on. I love taking calculated business risks because I believe business and life in general is all about risks. I’am a very focused person who believes in working smarter and not harder.

I love playing the Game of Chess. It is actually my favorite Sport. It intrigues and interests me so much because it helps me become analytical and creative in business and life in general. That’s why I teach my children how to play this game. In the near future, I intend to write a blog post or article about the important lessons people can learn or deduce as a result of playing this game on a regular basis. I intend to be a Chess Grand-Master someday. It doesn’t matter how long this will take me because I play it for fun. I also love watching soccer especially the English League. Chelsea is my Team. I’am a Blue Fun! Don’t ask me why!! I just love the team. I’am also a Health and Fitness guy because I believe in taking good care of my health physically, mentally and spiritually. I love karate and judo for my self-defence.

I love extremely good music. No preferences as long as it is good music. Slow tracks, rhythm and blues, gospel, reggae, revv etc. Anything! I listen to it as long as it soothes my soul. My favorite songs on the international scene include; life for rent by Dido, heal the world by Michael Jackson, jasmine flower by Ken G, and God will make a way by Don Moen.

On the local scene, my favorite music is zuba yanga by Baska, job by MC Wabwino, chintelelwe by Dandy Crazy and Nshansha by Dalisoul. On the gospel local scene, I love music done by Ephraim, Roberta, Mweshi, The Ngosa Brothers, Nathan Nyirenda,  Jojo  Mwangaza and Joyce Mwanza.

I love watching Movies especially comical and action oriented ones. My favorite movies are: Coming to America by Eddie Murphy, True Lies by Arnold Schwarznergger, Passion of the Christ directed by Mel Gibson, and The Godfather. Favorite actors are Eddy Murphy, Arnold Schwarznergger, Steven Segal, Wesley Snipes, Angelina Jolie, Queen Latifa and Mr. Bean.

Right now, I’am currently working for National Airports Corporation Limited. I have kept changing jobs from one company to the other for nothing other than financial reasons. This lack of adequate financial resources has been a major reason for my nomadic movement from company to company. This was all done in search of a better salary to solve my never ending monthly problems such as rentals, school fees for my children as well as my college tuition fees for my Advanced Diploma Course in Business Management, electricity bills, water bills and many other monthly commitments. Moreover, I discovered similar work related problems in all the organizations that I worked for. As I earlier on alluded to in my opening remarks, I have always despised the idea of working for someone else due to the fact that SOME of the people in these organizations I used to work for including the current one used to get on my nerves. Some were ill-qualified for certain positions. Others were promoted not on merit but because they happened to be in good books with some senior bosses in the respective organizations. It was all about who you knew that mattered and not your capabilities or qualifications. I remember vividly an incident whilst working in the Zambian State Constabulary Service as a Public Prosecutor at the rank of Sub-Inspector in which some junior police-officer who had recently passed-out (graduated) from the police training school being promoted to the rank of full-inspector just after some months in the force. He was under my tutelage as a trainee Public Prosecutor. But because he happened to be related to my senior bosses in the force, he got promoted faster and ended up being my immediate supervisor even though I was better qualified both in terms of experience and qualification wise. As you can see and emotionalise, this really angered me terribly. “what?” A junior officer who was being tutored by me becoming my boss and giving me orders!! I said NO to this and immediately made up my mind to leave the constabulary for good. To echo these problems of having  unqualified individuals getting promoted to positions of authority even when they don’t qualify, here is what the Bible has to say about it in Ecclesiates 10:5-7 and I quote, “ There is another evil I have seen under the sun. Kings and Rulers make a grave mistake when they give great authority to foolish people and low positions to people of proven worth. I have even seen servants riding horsebacks like princes- and princes walking like servants.” ( New Living Translation).

And that’s how I found myself working for this parastatal organization I’am with up to now.

I love and enjoy my current job. I work with really nice people. My current bosses are suitably qualified people for their jobs and I get along with every one of them very WELL!! I have no problems whatsoever with any one of them. I also get along with many of my co-workers very WELL and I have no problems whatsoever with any one of them as well!! Moreover, my current job pays me a really good salary which enables me to live a decent life as well as meet most of my monthly commitments. The other thing I love about my current job is that it enables me to meet different kinds of people which is actually good for me because it helps me to polish up my people skills.

However, my current job just like any other job, has its own demerits as well. The first demerit is that it can never make me extremely Wealthy or Rich as I would wish to be!! It just makes me survive. The other demerits range from awkward working hours, standing for long hours sometimes at the place of work, waking up early in the morning, early pick-ups by our staff-bus before you actually get ready and the irritating hooting by the staff-bus drivers who come to pick me up from my home to the annoyance of my neighbors who constantly complain to me for the disturbance in the morning.

Moreover, I ended up having a terrible back-ache health problem as a result of standing for long hours at my place of work which kind of paralysed my body system. I started to hate waking up early in the morning. I actually struggled to get out of bed because it hurt so badily.

However, all of this Changed when I discovered a certain Company called Tiens Group of Companies and its Unique Health Products!!

Like when I was first told by someone about how I could earn myself a supplemental income doing this business with this very company, I didn’t believe the person who told me about it at first. I put off this idea of making money on a part-time basis. I just thought it wasn’t a serious business and that it would never work out for me going by my previous experiences that I’ve had with all the other organizations I had worked for in the past. I just thought this was yet another company which was there to keep me busy in my spare time for nothing. And to tell you the truth, I wasn’t prepared for that. I told the gentleman to leave me alone for I was happy where I was receiving a living wage. But then due to his continuous persistence and constant nagging, I reluctantly said okay just to get him off my back!

AND the results were nothing short of amazing!

Within a week of looking at the whole business concept of this Company and the products involved, my perception of this business model immediately Changed! I got extremely excited for the first time ever in my life. The potential in terms of income one could earn was extremely awesome. Moreover, the problems I talked about earlier on about having some unqualified individuals getting promoted was completely eliminated with this business system. Only individuals who deserved to be promoted got promoted. No favoritism involved. Actually the Computer System did the promotion based on one’s performance or results in the company. No need of getting to know the people who mattered the most in the organization in order to get promoted. With this business model, a person’s qualifications such as degrees or Phd’s no longer mattered any more!!. What mattered are the results you produced with these same qualifications you possessed. If you produced no results even if you were highly qualified, the system would never promote you or even pay you a cent! This is the most interesting aspect I like about this business model. You get paid or recognized according to your own input and output and NOT according to how well educated you are. There is no limit as to how much one can earn per month. You set the salary yourself. No More Strikes or asking for salary adjustments every year from your bosses!! You get to determine how much you want to earn per month.

I have actually personally started earning a supplemental income from this very part-time business from the said company. Though the income is not yet enough to make me live a life of my dreams but the company’s business model as well as its compensation plan  gives me hope and excitement.

Moreover, the products the company deals in are highly unique. They have an all year round demand. They benefit you as an individual health-wise! Let me paint you a personal picture of mine about my back-ache health problem. It all started as a result of the nature of the job I do. I stand for long hours at my place of work sometimes. And this ended up having an effect on my health in the long term. This back-ache used to give me problems both at work and at home.
